WHAT IS MATHEMATICS ABOUT?

What is math about? Relationship of Samuel Male. Mathematics has accompanied man over the last millennia. It was initially developed as a useful tool for human activities and, later on, it has had great success as an effective language for the other sciences (for physics, chemistry ...). But, if one part of mathematics finds its raison d'etre in its "unreasonable effectiveness" in the natural sciences, the other part, the so-called "pure" mathematics, develops without interest in its possible applications. A question may arise spontaneously for those who dedicate themselves to this part of mathematics: what is mathematics really about?
